You did it!

Thanks to your generous support, the OpenMedia community just wrapped up two full days of driving a giant truck billboard around Netflix HQ in Silicon Valley to ensure they hear your message about respecting our privacy.

It was a long road to get here (no pun intended), but your billboard truck finally took our community’s message straight to Netflix HQ in Silicon Valley.

The truck accomplished our mission: back up our open letter1 to Netflix and make sure they hear you loud and clear. Not only did they see it, but so did the global media.2,3

We want Netflix to be fully on side with team Internet – this means asking them to stop blocking their customers who use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to protect their privacy and security online.

We had originally planned on delivering your message with a giant billboard next to the main highway going into Silicon Valley. But after weeks of work to make it happen, the advertising company backed out at the last minute, refusing to work with us on the campaign.

Other billboard options were way beyond our budget or poorly located, but we were determined to find an alternative that would have the same impact. In the end, thanks to you, we went with a mobile billboard to put our message right in front of Netflix on their home turf.

We couldn’t have regrouped and driven this over the finish line without your contributions, so to those of you who chipped in, thank you. Our digital privacy, and the tools that protect it, are critical, and you’re helping to protect them. We’ll keep you posted on what happens next.

With gratitude,

Laura and your OpenMedia team
